Blue CareOnDemand
Our clients in South Carolina who are insured through BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina or BlueChoice HealthPlan now have access to Blue CareOnDemand, a telemedicine service that is included with your health plan.
With Blue CareOnDemand, you can consult with a doctor using a smartphone, tablet or computer rather than visiting an office or urgent care facility.
Members can choose U.S. board-certified doctors for consultations or diagnoses — even prescriptions (when available and appropriate). It’s an affordable and convenient way to see a doctor via video using a mobile device or the Web, 24/7/365.
HOW TO USE BLUE CAREONDEMAND
There are two ways for members to sign up for Blue CareOnDemand: Download the “Blue CareOnDemand” mobile app from App Store or Google Play or visit www.BlueCareOnDemandSC.com. Once registered, you can log in to the mobile app or website as needed and consult with doctors through video visits.
WHAT TYPES OF CONDITIONS CAN BLUE CAREONDEMAND DOCTORS TREAT?
Blue CareOnDemand doctors can treat many of the most common health issues without you having to visit an office at all. These include cold or flu symptoms, sinus or ear infections, pinkeye, etc.
Obviously, telemedicine is not a replacement for primary care doctors. But it’s a great way to get a consultation or treatment outside office hours or when you’re traveling or unable to get an appointment with your doctor soon enough.
HOW MUCH DOES BLUE CAREONDEMAND COST?
The cost for a consultation through Blue CareOnDemand is the same as your copay for an office visit. If you have a high deductible plan (with no copay), the cost is $59 and is applied to your deductible. So if you have a $20 copay, the service is $20. If you have a $0 copay, the service is $0.
